Medicare Advantage Plans
Medicare Advantage Plans (Medicare Part C) are Medicare Health Plans that are offered by
private insurance companies that have entered into a special arrangement with the federal
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Under these arrangements the federal
government pays the insurance company a set amount for each Medicare enrollee to provide
all Medicare benefits. You generally get all your Medicare-covered health care through
that plan, including physician services, hospital care and built in Part D prescription
drug coverage. If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you don’t need to buy a Medigap policy.
With Medicare Advantage Plans you usually will have to pay some other costs
(such as copayments or coinsurance) for the services you get. Out-of-pocket costs in
these plans are generally lower than in the Original Medicare Plan, but vary by the
services you use.
All Medicare beneficiaries who are entitled to Medicare benefits under Part A and
enrolled in Part B, who reside in a Medicare Advantage Plan’s service area and do not have End-Stage Renal
Disease (ERSD) may apply.
Health Tradition Health Plan has partnered with several Medicare Advantage
Plans that offer this type of coverage.
